South Korean actress Kim Sae-ron, known for her role in the 2023 Netflix series Bloodhounds, was found dead at her home in Seongdong-gu, Seoul, on Sunday. The 24-year-old was discovered by a friend who was scheduled to meet her.
The tragic news comes after Kim had withdrawn from the public eye following a recent drunk-driving incident, Yonhap News Agency reported.
“We have not found any signs of foul play as of yet, but we are investigating the circumstances of the death,” police said.
According to the South China Morning Post, Kim stepped back from her acting career after a drunk driving incident in May 2022, when she crashed her car into a roadside electrical transformer box. The report stated that she was fined 20 million Korean won (approximately Rs3,857,658) for the incident, which led to significant public scrutiny and prompted her withdrawal from the spotlight, including her decision to leave the drama series Trolley.
Yonhap reported that Kim attempted a comeback in acting last year but stepped back again due to health concerns. Throughout her career, she received numerous accolades, including the title of “Best New Actress” at various Korean arts awards, as noted on her IMDb page.
