- Harbhajan Singh criticized a comparison between Rizwan and Dhoni.
- A Pakistan cricket fan made the comparison online.
- He acknowledged Rizwan’s talent but insisted Dhoni remains the best.
Former India off-spinner Harbhajan Singh has expressed frustration towards a Pakistan cricket fan and local sports creator for comparing Pakistan wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan with former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
The incident occurred after a local sports creator, who has been associated with the Pakistan Cricket Board, Pakistan Super League, Lanka Premier League (LPL) 2024, and T10 Global League, made a post on X asking the question of who is better between Rizwan and Dhoni.
Harbhajan reacted strongly to this comparison, questioning, “What are you smoking nowadays???”
He deemed the comparison a silly question, asserting that Dhoni remains the top wicketkeeper in world cricket and that no one surpasses him behind the stumps.
“What are you smoking nowadays??? What a silly question to ask. Brothers, tell him. DHONI is far ahead of RIZWAN. Even if you ask Rizwan, he will give you an honest answer. I like Rizwan; he is a good player who always plays with intent, but this comparison is wrong. DHONI is No. 1 even today in world cricket. None better than him behind stumps,” said Harbhajan in response to the post.
In 90 Test matches, Dhoni has taken 256 catches and made 38 stumpings. He has taken 321 catches in One-day internationals and made 123 stumpings in 350 matches. Dhoni has also scored 4,876 runs in Tests, with an average of 38.09, including six hundreds and 33 fifties.
In comparison, Rizwan has taken 78 catches and made three stumpings in 30 Test matches. In 74 ODIs, he has taken 76 catches and made three stumpings. Rizwan has scored 1,616 runs in Tests, with an average of 40.4, including two centuries and nine fifties.
