Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Dharna Postponed Today

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has postponed its protest outside Sindh governor’s house following the assassination of Hamas Political Wing Chief, Ismail Haniyeh. The protest was initially organized to address the issue of inflated electricity bills. However, the sudden death of Haniyeh in Iran led to the change in plans. The party will now hold funeral prayers in absentia for Ismail Haniyeh at MA Jinnah Road at 5 PM today.

Haniyeh, the leader of Hamas’ political wing, was killed in an Israeli strike in Iran. He was in Tehran attending the inauguration of Iran’s new president when the incident occurred. Hamas confirmed his death, stating that Haniyeh died in a Zionist strike on his headquarters in Tehran.

Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also reported the incident, confirming that Haniyeh’s residence in Tehran was hit and that he was killed along with his bodyguard. The news has prompted a significant response from political groups and communities, leading to the postponement of planned protests and the arrangement of memorial prayers.

The postponement of JI’s protest highlights the impact of international events on local actions and the interconnected nature of global politics. The incident has not only led to a change in the protest schedule but also to a collective moment of mourning for the JI and its supporters.
