After a period of uncertainty surrounding Ten Hag’s future, United engaged in discussions with the 54-year-old on Tuesday, with both parties expressing a desire for him to continue in his role.
Despite finishing eighth this season, their lowest-ever Premier League finish, and experiencing early exits in the Carabao Cup and Champions League, Ten Hag’s FA Cup victory appears to have secured his position. The Dutchman attributed their disappointing results to a lengthy injury list, a sentiment seemingly supported by minority owner and INEOS boss Sir Jim Ratcliffe, along with their success in cup competitions. Nonetheless, this could be viewed as Ten Hag’s final opportunity to prove himself.

Amidst speculation regarding his future, various candidates such as Mauricio Pochettino, Thomas Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi, and Thomas Frank were considered, but the recent decision has put an end to that. United’s board and Ten Hag will now focus on preparing for the upcoming season, with the understanding that significant improvements are necessary to extend his tenure at Old Trafford.
