Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has said that Lisandro Martinez is desperate to play against Arsenal in the Premier League.
The Red Devils entertain their fierce rivals at Old Trafford on Sunday and ahead of the game, United have received good news on the injury front.
Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay and Marcus Rashford could be involved, but Martinez won’t be in the matchday squad this weekend.
He has just returned from a long-term injury and Ten Hag has revealed that he won’t play Martinez despite his eagerness to face the Gunners.
He said: “Lisandro Martínez is desperate to play, he wanted to play vs Arsenal but it’s too early.”
“I’d never gamble with a player’s fitness. It’s about them and their futures.
“That is the most important thing. I have to take responsibility for it.”
United face a must-win situation against Arsenal or they could be trailing in the race to qualify for the Europa League or Conference League.
