Jamaat-e-Islami to hold protests across Karachi against traffic accidents today

Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced protests at 15 locations in Karachi today against the rising number of fatal traffic accidents involving dumpers and tankers.

According to the Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi spokesperson, the protests will be held at various points, including National Highway, Super Highway, Hub River Road, Shahrah-e-Pakistan, University Road, Shahrah-e-Orangi, Shahrah-e-Korangi, Ahsanabad, Quaidabad, Shahrah-e-Sher Shah Suri, Rashid Minhas Road, Kala Pul, Garden, Hyderi Bus Stop, and Power House Chowrangi in North Karachi.

The spokesperson stated that the protests against deadly dumper, tanker, and trailer accidents will commence at 5 PM, with the central demonstration taking place at Liaquatabad No. 10, opposite Shohada Mosque. The JI Karachi chief, Munim Zafar Khan, will address the main gathering.

Munim Zafar Khan demanded that the families of those killed in traffic accidents be compensated with Rs. 10 million each and that the injured receive immediate and complete medical treatment.

The spokesperson further emphasized that the Sindh government and the police department must enforce traffic laws, regulate heavy vehicle movement in the city, implement road safety acts, uphold motor vehicle laws, ensure proper issuance of driving licenses, and maintain speed limits.
