Mohsin Naqvi Inaugurates State-of-the-Art Immigration and Passport Office in Islamabad

Islamabad: Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has announced a significant upgrade in passport services, ensuring faster delivery and respectful treatment for citizens at passport offices. During the inauguration of the state-of-the-art Immigration and Passport Office in Islamabad, the minister outlined transformative changes to improve passport issuance across Pakistan.

24/7 Passport Services at NADRA Centers

Mohsin Naqvi revealed plans to establish passport offices at NADRA centers operating 24 hours a day in 14 to 16 cities nationwide. Citizens will now have the convenience of applying for passports at any time of the day, ensuring better accessibility and service. Model passport centers are also set to be launched in Karachi and Lahore to further enhance the service experience.

Backlog of Passports Cleared

The Interior Minister highlighted that the backlog of passports, which previously extended to six months, has been entirely eliminated. Citizens can now expect their passports within the designated timeframe, a move aimed at restoring public trust in the system.

Crackdown on Agent Mafia

Addressing past inefficiencies, Mohsin Naqvi noted that the conditions of passport and NADRA centers have drastically improved. To tackle corruption, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has intensified its crackdown on agent mafias operating outside passport offices.

The newly inaugurated facility includes a modernized reception area, an online application section, a production center, and a data center. During his visit, Mohsin Naqvi awarded honorary shields and cash prizes to staff members who exhibited exceptional performance in passport production, reflecting the government’s commitment to recognizing excellence.

DG Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi praised the Interior Minister’s vision, stating that it has significantly enhanced the quality of passport office services. These initiatives aim to provide efficient, transparent, and citizen-friendly facilities across Pakistan. This development marks a crucial step toward streamlining Pakistan’s passport and immigration services, ensuring timely delivery and fostering a corruption-free environment for citizens.
