Last Tuesday, there was a discreet meeting in Monaco between former Bayern coach Thomas Tuchel and Manchester United’s new shareholder, Sir Jim Ratcliffe. It’s reported that the British billionaire listened to Tuchel’s plans for United’s future, exploring a potential collaboration for the upcoming season.
Tuchel is believed to have highlighted his ability to enhance individual players, particularly mentioning his potential to maximize the performance of Jadon Sancho and Mason Mount, an aspect where current manager Erik ten Hag has struggled. Tuchel referenced Antonio Rudiger as an example, citing his pivotal role in Chelsea’s Champions League victory in 2021 and his subsequent triumph with Real Madrid.
The club’s end-of-season evaluation is nearing completion, with ten Hag expected to be informed of the board’s decision soon. While there’s uncertainty about whether the Dutchman will retain his position, Ratcliffe’s discussions with Tuchel and other potential managers strongly suggest a possible change in leadership.
While many fans prefer ten Hag to continue, especially after the recent FA Cup win, Ratcliffe and INEOS are taking their time before making such a significant decision.
