Billy Ray Cyrus and Firerose have ended their marriage after only seven months. The “Achy Breaky Heart” singer filed for divorce in May 2024 from the Australian singer, whose real name is Johanna Rose Hodges. According to an insider, Cyrus felt deceived by Firerose, believing she married him for financial support.
The couple first collaborated musically in 2021 and confirmed their romance in August 2022. Engagement rumors sparked when Firerose was seen with a diamond ring in September 2022, and Billy Ray confirmed their engagement two months later. They married on October 10, 2023, sharing their joyous news on Instagram, calling their wedding day “the most perfect, ethereal celebration of love.”
Despite their public displays of affection, the relationship deteriorated. Firerose, a singer-songwriter with a passion for music since childhood, moved from Sydney, Australia, to Los Angeles to pursue her career. She and Billy Ray collaborated on several songs, including “New Day,” “Time,” and “Silent Night.” Firerose also celebrated seven years of sobriety in May 2023.
Cyrus was previously married to Tish Cyrus for 28 years, with whom he shares five children, including Miley and Noah. The divorce filing cited irreconcilable differences and inappropriate marital conduct. In June 2024, Billy Ray sought a temporary restraining order against Firerose, alleging misuse of his credit cards, while Firerose accused him of verbal and emotional abuse.
